LOS ANGELES–One small step for the Filipino Heritage Night, one giant leap for Filipinos coming to the International Space Development Conference 2018 (ISDC) on May 24 to 27 at Sheraton Gateway Hotel in the city.
In this big event organized by the National Space Society, the Filipino Heritage Night will have its opportunity to showcase Philippine culture and arts through unique cultural dances and folk songs as well as top performances from its current singers and artists.
Costume and fashion designer Carl Andrada of Carmelo Designs will showcase Philippine-inspired costumes have gained him acclaim in beauty pageants and fashion shows in Los Angeles.
Kayamanan ng Lahi, a non-profit cultural organization whose mission is to preserve, promote and present the richness and diversity of Philippine culture through dance and music to educate, entertain and enrich, will also be featured as part of the evening’s highlights.
Filipino American actor Reggie Lee is one of the special guests. Lee has appeared in TV shows and movies such as Grimm, Prison Break and Pirates of the Caribbean. He will be the recipient of a Recognition Certificate from Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. Filipino American Chamber of Commerce Hollywood President Craig Obligacion Wilson and the Board of Directors will be presenting.
The event is another landmark event for the National Space Society following the recent interests and adventures in space travel like the recent successful space explorations of Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
This year, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is going to be the recipient of the prestigious Gerard K. O’Neill Memorial Award for Space Settlement Advocacy to be awarded at the National Space Society’s yearly conference.
The event aims to present the latest ideas and plans for space travel, space development and space settlements with an opportunity for Filipinos to meet and hear from the high-profile speakers and special guests in space travel, such as legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
The participation of the Filipino Heritage Night is a collaborative project underwritten by the Historic Filipinotown Neighborhood Council (HiFiNC) through its President Cecilia Ramos and Vice President Leo Pandac and supported by the Philippine Consulate Office under the direction of Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz .
Programming is provided by Kayamanan ng Lahi, a non-profit organization through its leaders Joel and Ave Jacinto and Barbara Ele.
Proceeds will be used for the Historic Filipinotown Festival 2018 and the HiFiTown Gateway West Project.
