Last night and well into tonight, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), or the Television Academy, presented its 70th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards recognizing technical achievements on TV as well as handing out some acting, hosting and top program honors of the 2017-2018 season.
Filipino representation was also recognized this weekend at the Microsoft Theater in DTLA.
For Outstanding Casting For A Limited Series, Movie Or Special, the Emmy went to casting directors Courtney Bright and Nicole Daniels of the Casting Society of America for FX Networks’ The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
Of the Filipino Hollywood talent on the show were Darren Criss, Jon Jon Briones, Carlin James, Zedrick Restauro and Isa Briones.
Also, the Winner for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Programming went to Filipino American Zaldy Goco for Ru Paul’s Drag Race on VH1.
With three Emmy nominations since 2016, Filipino American fashion designer Goco took home an Emmy last year for the show’s episode featuring Lady Gaga. Last night, he won his second Emmy for Ru Paul’s Drag Race‘s Season 10 Premiere, 10s Across the Board.
The Creative Arts Emmys honor outstanding, artistic, and technical achievement in television programs in various genres including animation, reality, and documentary categories.
The 70th Creative Arts Emmy Awards will broadcast Saturday, September 15 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on FXX.
