“I hope Hollywood notices that Filipino American men make every bit as complex… as any other race.” says filmmaker Francis dela Torre. “THE TRADE has a mission of balancing the diversity in Hollywood. Help us by pledging on Kickstarter.”
THE TRADE is an action crime thriller exploring the dark side of the American Dream starring Dante, Darion and Dion Basco with Elizabeth Frances.
In an attempt to quickly double their earnings, Nick and JC, two Filipino American brothers pursue a drug deal to pay off their family’s debt to a violent crime lord. When a crucial drug deal fails, Nick’s wife and son’s lives are put at stake when they are kidnapped. With only twenty-four hours to spare, the brothers’ relationship is put to the test when they are forced to betray each other in the process of fighting to save their family. In the style of 1970s gritty crime thrillers and modernly influenced by movies like Martin Scorsese’s The Departed and Jim Mickle’s Cold in July, THE TRADE is an Asian American action thriller.
Both the script and cast are complete. All the film needs is to continue current production efforts to compete the film in its entirety. This process is far from cheap, and the expenses add up quickly. With your help, they will be able to finish important scenes to their story and make the post production process efficient.
The majority of the donations will go toward post production. The reach of this film is somewhat limited to the amount of work that is put into things like sound design, color grading, and editing.
Donate here and help them reach their $25,000 goal: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cinematografo/the-trade-an-asian-american-thriller-w-the-basco-b – This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Friday, October 19 2018 10:20 AM PDT.
